Published guides (Acko, November 2025) give the current towing charges in Hyderabad as ₹150 for a two-wheeler, ₹200 for a car, jeep or auto-rickshaw, ₹300 for a light motor vehicle and ₹600 for a heavy motor vehicle, on top of the fine. A towed vehicle is taken to the nearest traffic police station.
3. Draft towing policy, May 2026
In May 2026 the Telangana Transport Department sent a draft policy on illegal parking and abandoned vehicles to the government. After approval it is to be published for suggestions and objections. As reported, it proposes:
- towing vehicles parked in no-parking zones, on footpaths or obstructing traffic, to designated yards;
- urban towing charges of ₹500 for two-wheelers, ₹700 for auto-rickshaws and ₹1,000 for light motor vehicles (lower in rural areas), plus a daily parking fee at the yard (₹20–30 a day for two-wheelers);
- clearing pending challans, road tax, fitness and insurance dues before release, and auction of vehicles not claimed within 30–45 days.
This is a draft. Until it is notified, the current charges above apply.
4. Getting a towed vehicle back
- Find out from the traffic police station for the area where the vehicle has been taken.
- Pay the fine and the towing charge through official channels and keep the receipt. Pending challans may have to be cleared too.
- Carry your registration certificate (RC), driving licence and an ID.
5. Parking in apartments and housing societies
Inside an apartment complex, parking is governed by your sale deed (whether a slot is allotted or covered parking is mentioned) and by the bye-laws of your housing society or owners' association. Before you let your slot to an outsider, or rent one in a complex where you do not live, check what the society allows — many need the visitor's vehicle to be registered with security.
